AUTHORJoAnn Clinton, LMT · AZ Chair Massage, Phoenix
I'm a licensed massage therapist based in Phoenix. For the last 13 years I've been running onsite massage events for companies all over the Valley - HR teams, employee appreciation days, conferences, healthcare staff, you name it.
Nobody handed me a playbook when I started. I figured out pricing by undercharging. I figured out deposits because someone canceled on me at the last minute and I'd already paid a therapist. I figured out HR outreach by sending a lot of messages that didn't work before I figured out the ones that did.
Over time I built systems for all of it. How I quote. How I size events. How I run the day. How I talk to HR. How I bring on other therapists. That's what this guide is. Not theory. The actual approach I use to run my business, written out so you can use it too.
"Everything in here is what I actually do. Not what sounds good in a course. What I actually do."
If you're a licensed therapist who wants to land workplace gigs, or you're already doing them and you know you're leaving money on the table, this is for you. It's the system I wish someone had handed me 13 years ago.
16 sections covering every part of the work. Pricing, contracts, sales, operations, the templates, the math. All of it.
01 / 02
The basics. Business setup, insurance, licensing, and how to position yourself so companies see you as a real vendor, not a freelancer.
03
How to figure out who's actually buying onsite massage in your area, what your competitors look like, and where the gaps are.
04
The therapist-hour formula. How to size any event. Break math. The "13+2" structure. Worked examples for 10 people, 50 people, 200 people.
05
The exact titles to look for on LinkedIn. How to build a prospect list. The connection messages, follow-ups, and cold emails I actually send.
06
Local SEO basics, Google Business Profile setup, blog topics that bring in HR buyers, and what AI search needs to recommend you.
07
From the first inquiry to the signed agreement and deposit. Discovery questions, quotes, handling objections, and turning one event into recurring work.
08
How to set up online employee signup so HR doesn't have to lift a finger. Plus the intake and informed consent piece most therapists skip, with my framework for what to include.
09
The day-of stuff. What to bring, what to set up, how to handle late arrivals, and the wrap-up that gets you booked again.
10 / 11
Bringing on other therapists, classification stuff to think about, and what topics your client and contractor agreements should cover when you sit down with your attorney.
12
CRM workflows, booking portals, automated reminders, HR dashboards. The tech that turns this into a real business instead of a hustle.
13
The actual language I use. Inquiry response, quotes, follow-up emails, LinkedIn messages, cold emails to HR, web copy. Examples you can read, learn from, and adapt.
14 / 15 / 16
Recurring accounts, multi-site events, current 2026 compliance (DOL, FTC, classification), and a 30-day plan to land your first client.
The therapist-hour formula. The "13+2" session structure. The break math. Worked examples for actual events. I ran the numbers myself before putting them in here, and they're consistent across every section.
The inquiry response. The follow-up email. The LinkedIn script. The cold message to HR. These are the words I actually use, written out so you can see how I phrase things and adapt them to your own voice and business.
I included the mid-2026 research on worker classification (DOL rules), FTC review and testimonial rules, and where to verify your state-specific stuff. Most other guides are using rules from years ago.
Most chair massage therapists don't have one. I walk you through what to include, how to handle signatures (in your booking portal or on paper), and what to do when someone shows up impaired. The framework is here. You build (or have an attorney build) your own form from it.
If you're trying to land your first workplace gig, start at the front. If you're already running events and want to bring on contractors or shift to recurring accounts, jump to the scaling chapter. The whole thing is built to grow with you.
You're good at the work. You want to start landing workplace gigs but you're not sure where to begin, what to charge, or how to talk to HR.
You're doing events here and there but it feels like luck instead of a system. You want something repeatable, and you want to bring on other therapists.
You've been running events for a while but you know you're undercharging. You want the math and the systems to tighten things up.
One-time. You download it and it's yours.

QUESTIONS
No. The toolkit is set up in order. You start with the basics like business setup and positioning, then move into pricing, finding clients, and so on. The 30-day plan at the end turns the whole thing into a step-by-step launch.
Probably more than you'd expect. The pricing chapter alone will likely change how you quote - most therapists I talk to are undercharging without realizing it. The templates, contracts, and recurring-revenue sections are built to upgrade what you're already doing.
No. The guide is delivered as a PDF only. You'll be able to read it on any device, print it if you want, and copy text out of it to use as a starting point in your own writing. If you're looking for plug-and-play editable templates, this isn't that. This is the playbook.
The systems and the math work anywhere. The guide also points you to the official sites where you'll verify your state's licensing, business setup, sales tax, and worker classification rules.
It's a digital download, so I don't do refunds - but I'm happy to answer questions before you buy. If you're not sure it's a fit, message me first and I'll tell you honestly.
